THE BLESSING OF THE FAST

"It is not rather the fast which I choose, loose the bonds of wickedness, drop charges of oppression, and let go free to the brokenhearted, and to break every yoke? Is it not that you share your bread with the hungry, and the wandering poor hostels at home; When you see the naked, you cover him, and not hide from your brother? “Isaiah 58:6-7 As you will have noticed reading the Gospel of St. Matthew 6:5-18, we find two principles taught by Jesus: pray and fast. It is interesting to see how as the Lord refers to these principles; "When you pray, when you fast", as large, deep secrets revealed that represent a supernatural power to our lives, then allow us to see things that otherwise we would be impossible to reach. There is a power, without a doubt, ratified in many other passages of the Bible as in the case of Marcos 9:28, when he declares: "this genre with nothing can leave, but with prayer and fasting "”. But what is this power? We can say that it is not in fasting, but at those who target our fasting, i.e. God. When we fast, we acknowledge our need and your power, not so much to give us what we want or need, but for something much more profound and far-reaching as to transform our lives; when we fast, we allow that he can do things that otherwise we or anyone can do them. Let us remember that there are areas in our lives in which we have not victory, which we submit to slavery because we cannot separate us, except by prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21). These biblical principles that the Lord teaches us are to grow our spiritual life, to have victory over attitudes, behaviors and habits that we weaken, defeat us and make us lose our communion with God, as the wickedness, injustice, selfishness and lack of mercy. If we want to be truly free to love and to be merciful, we need the power that hides in the fast. "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, to be seen of men; of verily I say unto you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, enter into your closet and closed the door, pray to your father who is in secret; and your father who sees in secret will reward you in public. And praying, you use not vain repetitions, as the gentiles, they think that by your words will be heard. Not for yourselves, therefore, similar to them; because your father knows what things have need, before you ask him. You, therefore, pray thus: our father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your Kingdom come. Your will be done as in heaven, so on Earth. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And us goals not into temptation but deliver us from evil; because yours is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Because if you forgive men their trespasses, will forgive you also your heavenly father; but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither your father forgive you your trespasses. When ye fast, be not austere, like the hypocrites; because they demean their faces to show men that fast; of verily I say unto you, they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, to not show the men that you are fasting, but to your father who is in secret; and your father who sees in secret will reward you in public.” Matthew 6:5-18 "Dear Father, thanks we give this new dawn, for giving us a family, a home, a job, a health and your immense mercy to have us live in your presence. We give infinite thanks by the principles established in your Word, that are nothing more than multiple blessings that you crave for us, so that we can achieve the victories over so many struggles that they are every day. We ask the Lord to help us overcome all the obstacles that prevent us from experiencing the power that there is prayer and fasting, because we truly cherish you transform our lives and make us the people who you want to be. Amen". Forward it to who you think you need this message, it will thank you. Message based on the devotional "call to prayer Lolita Cruz de Chamorro", rc.
